A Brief History of the Ladurée Macaron

In the middle of the 20th century, Pierre Desfontaines, cousin of Louis Ernest Ladurée, created the very first Ladurée macaron. His genius idea? Sticking two macaron cookies together and filling them with a flavorful ganache.

Ever since then, the preparation has remained the same. Each season, Ladurée celebrates this little round cake—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, offering a perfect balance of aromas and textures—by creating exciting new flavors.
